VIVEKANANDA SEVA ASHRAM RAMNAGAR
Serving Humanity Through Compassion, Education and Spiritual Values.
Located in the rural region of Purba Medinipur, Ramnagar Vivekananda Seva Ashrama is a humble initiative inspired by the ideals of service taught by great spiritual masters. The Ashrama works for the welfare of underprivileged children and the local community by providing shelter, education, healthcare and spiritual guidance.
With the spirit of “Service to the poor and needy”, the Ashrama strives to uplift lives and bring hope to those who need it most.
“This is the gist of all worship – to be pure and to do good to others. He who sees Shiva in the poor, in the weak and in the diseased really worships Shiva.” — Swami Vivekananda
About the Ashrama
Ramnagar Vivekananda Seva Ashrama was established in 1999 at Dakshinbasulipat, Ramnagar, Purba Medinipur by a group of dedicated volunteers inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and guided by monks of the Ramakrishna tradition.
The Ashrama was founded with the vision of serving humanity through spiritual values and selfless service. Since its inception, it has been actively engaged in humanitarian and spiritual activities in the surrounding rural communities.
Today, the Ashrama provides shelter, education and care for orphan girls, while also extending support to the local community through healthcare services and social initiatives.
The guiding principle of the Ashrama remains simple yet powerful:
Service to humanity is service to God.
Our Inspiration
The ideals and activities of the Ashrama are inspired by the teachings of three great spiritual luminaries whose lives embodied compassion, service and universal love — Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. Their message of selfless service and spiritual harmony continues to guide the Ashrama in its mission of serving humanity with love, dignity and devotion.
Activities
The Ashrama carries out several humanitarian and spiritual activities aimed at uplifting children and the surrounding community.
Orphan Care and Education
The Ashrama provides shelter, education, food and care for orphan girls who come from underdeveloped and economically challenged backgrounds. These children are given the opportunity to grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
Daily Routine and Spiritual Life
The day at the Ashrama begins early with morning prayers and physical exercise at 5 a.m. followed by daily study, activities and responsibilities. Spiritual practices such as daily worship, bhajans and evening arati help nurture moral and spiritual values in the children.
Vocational Training for Women
The Ashrama provides vocational training for local women, including tailoring and sewing, enabling them to earn a livelihood and support their families with dignity.
Community Healthcare and Welfare
The Ashrama runs a free clinic that provides medical assistance and health check-ups for poor villagers in the surrounding areas.
Regular health check-ups and basic medical care are arranged for the children to ensure their physical well-being.
